Silence

I've just finished re-reading the novel Silence by Susaku Endo. The silence that the title addresses is mainly the silence of God and the struggle many followers face when faced with that silence.

What do you do with the silence of God? If you believe in God, how much more difficult does silence make it to believe? If you don't believe, is this a major factor is explaining why?

In my life I've found that usually when I think God is being silent, it's because He's not speaking in the way or at the volume that I expect.

I've found time and time again that He was still speaking, just in a new or different way in this new season of my life. Especially being as His Word stands to speak to us whenever we are ready to open it's cover and dig in.

Sometimes I challenge myself by remembering that God HAS spoken to me today and I just need to find what it is He is saying.

That's a good point laura. Several times Jesus uses the words, "He who has ears...." Perhaps most notably, His parable of the Sower. But, what amazes me today is His response to John's disciples (Matt 11:1-19) and Christ's description on what it takes to be His disciple (Luke 14:25-35).

Do I...no! Will I have ears to hear?
