ask for help
open your blinds/pull back the shades

- live beneath your means
- buy that homeless man a meal
- don't shy away from disabled folk
- smile and wave when someone cuts you off in traffic
- take a fan to someone with no a/c
- ask your waitperson how they're doing... and mean it
- volunteer at a shelter
- treat each person as if they're Christ himself

La Passeggiata

My wife and I are taking up this practice. I think as a culture we have lost one of our basic instincts-to get out of the house and see what is going on. I know I have. So I am trying to get it back.

I think this practice holds some insight. (Minus dressing up in your best clothes)

I'm reading a nifty book called The Great Neighboorhood Book.. It has some really cool ideas on making the place where you live more meaningful.

The other idea that got from the book was to put a bench outside your house. Plant some flowers around it. And try to encourage everyone in the neighborhood to use it. Interesting. Couldn't hurt to try.
